Adaps is committed to maintaining a safe workplace, free from potential hazards, bullying or harassment.
It is also important to understand your responsibilities and obligations in this regard. Everyone has a role to play in workplace health and safety.
Discussing safety at work is a legal requirement; it is also smart management. All Contractors supplied by Adaps are expected to be employed in a working environment which complies with current OH&S legislation. As such there are administrative measures in place to monitor, and improve occupational health and safety.
The implementation and development of work health and safety guidelines will ensure there is a consistently high level of protection for all employees, contractors and payrollers alike.

Procedures & Forms
Workplace Reviews include an initial client assessment for new relationships and a minimum of one annual review of our Clients sites, to ensure and maintain a safe work environment for our Contractors.

Work related accidents/incidents, near misses and potential hazard reporting to comply with health and safety regulations, but also to provide early intervention, accident investigation and corrective action.

Upon accepting a contract and prior to starting on a client site, our Contractor Care team will meet/discuss with the individual to run through a process of induction.
This will include work practices as well as understanding the responsibilities of the individual for O H & S.

Accidents / Incidents
It is necessary to record and monitor accidents, incidents and near misses including corrective actions.
Everyone has a duty of care to maintain the health and safety of themselves and work colleagues. If you are witness to an accident/incident you must:-
- Ensure the injured person received assistance
- Ensure the work place is made safe without disruption to the area/scene and without endangering yourself or others.
- Notify your reporting Manager/Supervisor and Adaps Contractor Care team immediately, that an accident/incident has occurred.

Quick Tips
Workplace safety doesn’t have to be difficult – here are some tips providing a great start to making your workplace safer. These tips are taken from the Worksafe Victoria website and are the result of the O H & S hazards that inspectors most commonly see during their visits to small businesses and offices.
1. Fire Ensure extinguishers are in place, maintained and clearly marked for type of fire. All fire exits are clear and exit signs illuminated.
2. Electrical Plugs, sockets, switches are in good condition. Floors are clear of extension cords, which are tested and tagged. Safety switches are hardwired into electrical switchboards.
3. Chemical Workplace chemicals register and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are current. Chemicals are handled and stored to MSDS guidelines, and employees who use chemicals are trained in their safe use.
4. Slips, trips and falls Work areas are kept clean, uncluttered and well lit. Employees wear suitable footwear.
5. Storage and racking Racking systems are stable and in good condition, and they display and comply with the specified Safe Working Load. Safe access is provided to storage areas.
6. Noise Eliminate or reduce noise from loud processes or equipment. Where applicable, hearing protection is available and signage indicates it must be worn.
7. Heights Mezzanine floors have safe access and fall protection, handrails are secure and steps are well maintained, platform ladders are industrial grade and comply with standards.
8. Manual handling Hazardous manual handling is eliminated. Adequate space is provided for work or storage and trolleys are used to move items. The work area is between knee and shoulder height, and is close to the worker’s body.
9. First aid A first aid box is readily available and appropriately stocked. Qualified first aid staff are available and known to staff. Sufficient amenities are present for all staff.
10. Machinery & Equipment Safe access to machinery and equipment is provided. Moving parts cannot strike or reach people, and other hazards associated with machinery such as fumes, chemicals and noise have been assessed.
